OBC & MINORITY CELL


The OBC & Minority Cell at Kottakkal Farook Arts and Science College is established to empower students from OBC and minority communities and ensure their academic and personal development. The cell aims to create an inclusive environment where students from these backgrounds feel supported and are provided with opportunities to excel in their academic pursuits.

Objectives:

  1. Empowerment: To empower OBC and minority students through academic support, mentorship, and career guidance.
  2. Inclusivity: To promote an inclusive and supportive campus environment for OBC and minority communities.
  3. Awareness: To raise awareness about the challenges faced by OBC and minority students and work towards their resolution.
  4. Development: To facilitate the academic, cultural, and social development of OBC and minority students.
  5. Resources: To provide access to scholarships, resources, and opportunities that aid in the educational advancement of OBC and minority students.

Scope:

  1. Target Audience: The policy applies to all OBC and minority students enrolled in the college, including but not limited to Muslim, Christian, Jain, and Buddhist students.
  2. Activities: The OBC & Minority Cell will organize workshops, seminars, mentoring programs, cultural activities, and provide academic support.
  3. Support: The cell will collaborate with various departments, NGOs, and government bodies to provide comprehensive support to OBC and minority students.

Responsibilities:

  1. Needs Assessment:
    • Conduct surveys to identify the specific needs of OBC and minority students.
    • Analyze the data to tailor support programs effectively.
  2. Academic Support:
    • Provide tutoring and remedial classes in subjects where OBC and minority students face difficulties.
    • Organize workshops and seminars on topics relevant to OBC and minority students.
  3. Scholarships and Financial Aid:
    • Identify and inform students about available scholarships and financial aid opportunities.
    • Assist students in the application process for scholarships and financial aid.
  4. Mentorship Programs:
    • Establish mentoring programs where senior students and faculty members guide OBC and minority students.
    • Conduct regular mentoring sessions to monitor progress and address concerns.
  5. Career Development:
    • Organize career counseling sessions and workshops on higher education opportunities.
    • Facilitate interactions with industry professionals and alumni for career guidance.
  6. Cultural and Social Activities:
    • Promote cultural exchange programs to foster inclusiveness.
    • Celebrate cultural festivals and organize events to showcase the diverse traditions of OBC and minority communities.
  7. Feedback and Evaluation:
    • Conduct regular feedback sessions with OBC and minority students to assess the effectiveness of the initiatives.
    • Use feedback to continuously improve the programs and support services.
  8. Advocacy and Awareness:
    • Raise awareness among the college community about the challenges and contributions of OBC and minority students.
    • Advocate for policies and practices that promote the welfare of OBC and minority students.
